Dance Movement Therapy is a creative arts therapy that focuses on the connection between body and mind. Dance movement therapists have specialized training in analysis of movement and psychotherapy. They use dance and movement as a tool to achieve wellbeing through communication, body awareness, motor function, creativity, expression, and self-esteem. Objectives of therapy are determined in a client centred way between individual and practitioner.
Adapted Dance are classes that focuses on adapting to specific needs, abilities, and strengths of dancers within a class. It can still be therapeutic in nature and have similar outcomes to Dance Movement Therapy, however the goal is to develop dance skills and artistry.
